Netflix is returning to hit Norwegian disaster series La Palma . The streamer has greenlit a mini-series sequel titled Florida for the show that is currently ranking in the top 10 of Netflix’s non-English language charts. La Palma stars Severance breakout Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Thea Sofie Loch Næss and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal . Partly based on the 2021 Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption, it follows a Norwegian family on holiday in the Canary Islands as they confront chaos when researchers uncover signs of an imminent volcanic eruption that could trigger a catastrophic tsunami. Revealed at an event today in Norway , Netflix said Florida will pick up just hours after the volcanic eruption, shifting the focus to a Norwegian community in the U.S. who are still unaware that a devastating tsunami is on its way.
