Sometimes when people say, "I need a career change," what they really mean is, "I cannot keep living like this." Those are not the same decision. I see this a lot with capable, thoughtful people who have been carrying too much for too long. Work feels heavy, patience gets thin, and suddenly quitting starts to look like the only honest option. Sometimes it is. But sometimes the real problem is not the field, the title, or even the company. It is the way life has narrowed around stress. That is why I think there are a few questions worth asking before you make a big career move from a depleted state.
