El Paso County authorities make arrest in animal cruelty investigation

A man has been arrested after a person called El Paso County dispatch to report seeing a dead horse on his property that was visible from the road. Robert Wilson, 52, was taken into custody Wednesday after investigators from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office found signs of animal cruelty at his property, located in the 12500 block of South Lauppe Road in Yoder. Investigators found two dead horses on the property, located east of Fountain, and another one that had to be euthanized after being transported to a local veterinarian hospital. Another horse remains in critical condition due to “advanced” malnourishment, the office said. According to the Sheriff’s Office, there was no access to water or food for any of the horses found on the property. A necropsy report will be conducted on the dead horses to determine their causes of death. Wilson is facing three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and another count of just animal cruelty.…
