Optimizing my finances: 28 dink Hi all, I really want to optimize my finances, and personally, I feel like me and my wife have a spending problem. We don’t buy many extravagant things, but the real big money eaters are Amazon, eating out, and just dumb purchases online. I’m 28, wife is 29. We just bought a home for 600k, 200k down, 5.8% interest, leaving us with a total payment of around 4k a month (IL is the worst for property taxes and we pay 16k a year). Breakdown: No credit card debt Car paid off 9k in student loans at 3% 200k home equity 260k in retirement (401k + Roth) 20k investments (most went to the house) That’s about it. Income: 220k before bonuses and profit sharing. Both fully remote. Fully maxing 401k for both me and my wife \~49k a year. Saving 2k a month cash (e fund rebuilding + investments). To be honest, when I lived at home with my parents as a new grad, I was close to saving 3k a month, so there’s probably a serious case of life style bloat. We also have 2 cats and a dog \~400 a month.…
