Boston firefighters responded to the apartment building at 760 Cummins Highway in Mattapan for a fire around 6 p.m.

One EMT was injured at the scene, the Boston Fire Department reports.

All residents were evacuated safely - two helped down a ladder by firefighters. Also rescued: A cat named Snowball and a gecko, name not released.
