On Monday, May 25, we urgently mobilized to provide on-the-ground support in response to evacuation orders following the State of Emergency declared in Garden Grove, California, due to a toxic chemical tank malfunction. Our disaster responders provided animal sheltering support and logistical coordination for pets of families in the evacuation zone while they received temporary emergency shelter and continue to provide OC Animal Care (OCAC) with assistance at their shelter. We are also transporting unowned shelter animals who were at OC Animal Care (OCAC) prior to the incident to make more room locally for displaced and evacuated pets. Animals transported from OCAC will be placed with our network of shelter partners across the country to be made available for adoption while local resources in Orange County focus on animals most in need.…
