Is there anything dreamier than a house on the water’s edge? When AD100 interior designer Gregory Rockwell got a call from his longtime clients about redoing a lakeside property in Maine, the wraparound porch was the undisputed crown jewel. “We kind of rebuilt the house around that porch,” says the owner of the 1930s cottage, erected before restrictions dictated structures sit back some 175 feet. “It feels like being on a houseboat.” In the living room, a custom sofa sits with an armchair upholstered in Pierre Frey tweed, a Victorian reclining chair, sourced from Obsolete , and a slate-topped 1970s Danish cocktail table from Nickey Kehoe . The Lee Rosen ceramic table lamp is from Avery and Dash , and the flush mount light fixture is by Lawson Fenning . One of the homeowners’ grandparents acquired the property, an old summer camp, in the 1940s, and expanded it into a rustic family compound. It’s where he spent his summers growing up.…
