Fred Rogers speaks in support of public broadcasting in the U.S Senate on May 1, 1969 ( Public Domain ) Nothing could be more perfect than the Tiny Chef singing Mr. Rogers' theme. Debuting with his program in 1968, Fred Rogers wrote the song himself. The song is very intentional, and the lyrics were chosen to help children feel safe, welcomed, and seen.
