It could have been a disastrous time for King Charles to make a visit to the White House, for several reasons. Donald Trump is not happy about Britain’s failure, as he sees it, to do its proper ally duties and allow the U.S. to attack Iran from U.K. bases. The king’s brother was recently arrested on the suspicion of crimes related in the Epstein files, which Trump desperately wants to pretend don’t include him too. Then there was the extremely, extremely recent assassination attempt on the very person the king was going to meet. I imagine more than one pair of hands was wrung raw in the palace’s security team about sending Charles over to America at this moment. But over he went. And all told, nothing much happened of note.…
