Published 9:30 am Wednesday, April 29, 2026 Typically, you might need snowshoes or at least spikes to navigate the usually snow- or ice-mixed Paulina Creek Trail in early spring, but this year the Peter Skene Ogden Trail is primed and ready early for all fair-weather outdoors people. I’m one of those myself. On a temperate Saturday in late March, my sister, Heather Kelly, and I both decided we needed a hike, but didn’t want the climb. After parking one car down at McKay Crossing Campground’s trailhead, we drove up to Ten Mile Sno-Park and began our descent pleased to know this beautiful trail wasn’t going to beat our butts on the uphill. Such a perfect day Temperatures were in the upper 40s starting out on the conifer and manzanita-lined trail at Ten Mile Snow Park (the farthest you can drive before the road to Paulina Lake opens for the season). Once we started moving, it became a scant overcast day, perfect for our easy version of this stretch of trail.…
