Boston Marathon charity runners had a record year before they even got to Boylston Street. The BAA announced that the 2026 Boston Marathon raised $57.3 million through its Official Charity Program , the highest single-year total in race history. That’s up from $50.4 million last year, giving the program another record-breaking jump. The total benefits the 193 nonprofit organizations connected to the race’s Official Charity Program. And since the program began in 1989, Boston Marathon fundraising has now gone past the $675 million marker. Nearly 10 percent of this year’s Boston field ran through the charity program, meaning a sizable chunk of the runners heading from Hopkinton to Boston were carrying more than a time goal.
