I’ve been looking into buying a domain name for my literary blog (text and picture content, emails that get sent out when I publish a new post, nothing fancy or extra). I was just going to go with the cheapest registrar because I thought all that buying a domain name was was buying it. I’m seeing though reading through some threads that there is a lot more that goes into purchasing your domain name and the registrar you choose to buy from. So for context, I am on Wordpress.com and am going to purchase a domain name mainly because I like my domain name and don’t want it to get snagged up. I’m not worried about monetizing my blog or migrating my site to bluehost for Wordpress.org (yet) because my viewership is low (I launched my website 2 weeks ago) and as I said, monetizing it isn’t a concern at the moment because I am self-taught and still learning the ropes. I don’t want to pay for something I don’t need yet. So what do I need to know about purchasing my domain name (and who with) before I do it?…
