Title is a bit hyperbolic, but this is genuinely how I feel lately. I'm a college journalist (graduating this June) and my main beat is arts journalism and I completed an (unpaid) internship at a national publication about six months ago and have since submitted thirty or so pitches to smaller and larger arts publications with little to no responses. I'm aware that this is a relatively small number in proportion to the time frame, but I am still a student and still very active in on-campus activities (clubs, newspaper, radio, etc.). I'm lucky to get a no back, at least it's a sign of life. I've been lucky enough to have people (mostly PR people and artists --- not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing) who believe in me and provided me with the emails of some of the editors at these places I'm pitching to, but alas.…
