Dear Care and Feeding, My husband and I have two children, “Amy” (12) and “James” (15). I’m writing about James. He’s a great kid: polite, gets good grades, doesn’t complain. He is very good at lacrosse, and last year we started sending him to a private school with an award-winning team so he could work with their excellent coach. He was given a sports scholarship at the school, which covers part of his tuition, and we pay the rest. We are happy with his school and his team, but we’re not happy with the friends he has made. Many seem to have a dangerous combination of absentee parents and lots of money. They all have expensive cars and there are always parties with drugs and alcohol.…
