Former Mariners closer and three-time MLB All-Star Edwin Díaz has been linked to alleged illegal cockfighting in Puerto Rico, according to a Friday report from USA TODAY . USA TODAY reported the connection after finding February Facebook posts of Díaz in a Dodgers uniform advertising cockfighting tournaments.  USA TODAY said the translated text of one of the posts reads: “The Puerto Rico Cockfighting Club invites all enthusiasts to a special match and a grand tribute to one of our island’s greatest sources of pride: A Tribute to the Puerto Rican Star and Cockfighter Edwin ‘Sugar’ Díaz.” The USA TODAY report also highlighted a March 10 article from Puerto Rico’s largest circulating newspaper, El Nuevo Día. It features a photo of Díaz standing in the cockfighting pit along with an article that states Díaz and his family attended the event and entered four roosters.  A translated quote attributed to Díaz in the El Nuevo Día article reads: “It’s a pastime I’ve followed since I was a child.…
