Hey everyone, I’m currently looking into doing the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek this upcoming January, but I have a few concerns and would love some realistic advice from people who have been there. Here are my main questions: 1. Is it doable for a beginner? I consider myself a beginner. The highest altitude I’ve ever hiked is around 2,000m. Given that ABC is over 4,100m, will the jump in altitude combined with winter conditions be too extreme for someone with my experience level? 2. How dangerous is it? I know January is deep winter there. How bad is the snow, and is there a serious avalanche risk on the trail during this time? 3. Are the teahouses (lodges) open? Since January is considered the off-season, are there enough teahouses/lodges open along the route for food and accommodation, or do most of them shut down? 4. What kind of preparation is needed?
