Skip to content The Hawaiian Islands have experienced what some estimate is the worst flooding in 20 years from a series of storms, including one that hit Oʻahu over the weekend. The storms have led to the rescues of about 200 people, and caused power outages affecting thousands of customers. The latest storm came on the heels of a previous system that also dumped rain on the island, with the famed North Shore, known for its world-class surfing waves , being one of the most flooded areas. Prior to the storm, Direct Relief was in contact with its existing partner network and immediately began preparing shipments of requested medicines, Emergency Medical Backpacks , hygiene products, water purification equipment, and other requested aid. A series of medical aid shipments has departed in response, with the most recent expected to arrive today.…
