I feel like we were completely scammed by an upscale preschool that targetted our son's diagnosis just to pocket our savings. Location: Colorado. My wife and I enrolled our 5-year-old son in a private preparotory academy. He has mild ADHD, which we fully disclosed on the application forms and during the intake interview. We even provided his therapist's recommendations so they could support him. They assured us their staff was trained for this and warmly accepted him. We signed the enrollment contract and paid a $5,000 "non-refundable" enrollment deposit. On day 3, the director called us. She said our son was "too disruptive" because he couldn't sit still during a 45-minute silent assembly and was being expelled immediatly. When we asked for our deposit back, they pointed to a clause in the contract stating that if a student is dismissed for disciplinary reasons, the entire deposit is forfeited.
