Hey everyone,
I’m having some concerns about my CPU temps and wanted to get some opinions.
I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 9850X3D, and I’m seeing what feels like pretty high temperatures. At idle, it sits around 50–60°C, and while gaming it goes up to 85–95°C.
Specs:
GPU: RTX 3080
CPU: Ryzen 7 9850X3D
Motherboard: ASUS X870-A
RAM: 32GB
Cooler: NZXT Kraken Elite 240mm AIO
I’ve already repasted and reseated the cooler, so I don’t think it’s a bad mount, but I’m starting to wonder if something else is going on.
What’s confusing me is that my previous CPU (Ryzen 5 5600X3D) ran much cooler under the same setup.
So I’ve got a few questions:
Does anyone else CPU run this hot ?
Could my AIO be the issue, or is 240mm just not enough?
Should I try undervolting, and if so, what’s the safest/easiest way to do that on this chip?
Any advice would be appreciated 🙏
