More private secondary schools in the city of Hiroshima have become coeducational in recent years.

Shintoku Girls’ High School in the city’s Minami Ward is the latest such example, having announced its plan to become a coed school in April next year.

Amid the chronically low birth rate in Japan, the schools hope to secure a stable number of students by broadening the pool of entrance exam takers.
