A Singapore-based operator of a ship and an employee were charged for the 2024 collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, federal prosecutors announced on Tuesday. The indictment names Synergy Marine Pte Ltd., based in Singapore, and Synergy Maritime Pte Ltd., based in Chennai, India, as well as Indian national Radhakrishnan Karthik Nair, 47, who was the technical superintendent for the Dali container ship. Officials say Karthik Nair made critical decisions that led to the disaster and the deaths of six people. The Dali crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26, 2024, killing six construction workers who had been filling potholes. “The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a preventable tragedy of enormous consequence,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
