A U.S. Army soldier involved in the daring operation and capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has been arrested on charges of allegedly using classified information to place a bet on the deposed leader's removal from office, a move that won him more than $400,000, authorities said. Gannon Ken Van Dyke, 38, allegedly wagered more than $33,000 on Polymarket, an online prediction market where bettors can wage money on everything from sports matches and economic indicators to political outcomes, the Justice Department said Thursday. He was charged with three counts of violating the Commodity Exchange Act, one count of wire fraud and one count of an unlawful monetary transaction.
