So I went down a rabbit hole recently after realizing I couldn't remember a single specific thing from the past 6 months. Found this Cambridge study from 2025 where they scanned 577 people aged 18 to 88 while watching the same Alfred Hitchcock film. What they found was kind of disturbing. Older brains had significantly fewer "neural state transitions" while watching the exact same content. Basically β€” the older brain registers fewer distinct moments. Less recording. Less memory formed. Which explains why a two week holiday feels longer than six months of normal life. Has anyone here read this study or similar research? Curious if there's more literature on this. I went deep on this topic and made a short video summarizing the science if anyone wants to check it out β€” but mainly just wanted to discuss the study itself. submitted by /u/Nikhil_Nair- [link] [comments]
