Editor’s Note At 0.4 inches thick and 4.4 ounces, James Brand's redesigned Ellis pocket knife is slimmer than a standard pen and lighter than most phones. The 2.6-inch drop-point blade is Sandvik 12C27 stainless, opened manually via nail nick and riding on phosphor bronze washers in a non-locking slip joint with a half-stop for safety. The CNC-milled 6061 aluminum scales have a dimpled texture for grip, and the low-profile machined stainless clip, borrowed from premium pen design and inspired specifically by the Lamy 2000, sits flush against the handle rather than clipping over it. Opposite the blade is the All Things scraper, which covers flathead driver, pry bar, and bottle opener duties. Closed length is 3.8 inches. Available in three colorways, designed in Portland.…
