Police have collected more than 2,000 items believed to be counterfeit or illegally trademarked from two Colorado Springs stores, according to an online blotter entry Wednesday.

The stores, now closed for investigation, are owned by the same person, who the Colorado Springs Police Department said has allegedly committed similar crimes in other states.

Located in the 700 block of South 8th Street, officers saw an employee trying to bag up suspected counterfeit items when they arrived Wednesday afternoon, police said. Surveillance footage also showed the suspect removing bags of items from the second store in a hurry.

No arrests have been made at this time. The department said they are consulting with federal partners for the investigation.
