That’s really what it’s about. The thing that makes visuals unique and dazzling is a lot of math, and the years and years of code, artistic feedback, support, and community that have made TouchDesigner what it is. So when you do want to pitch your work in live visuals, you need something unique. It’s always been worth taking the time to learn the math and skills behind this, but of course, that means knowing where to start. Part of the TouchDesigner ethos is meetups and conversation, don’t get me wrong, but if you don’t want to be totally lost, it’s good to have gotten through the phrasebook first, let’s say.
