Donald Trump said a suspected shooter was apprehended after the U.S. president was evacuated from the stage of a White House press dinner in Washington on Saturday following the sound of apparent gunshots. "Quite an evening in D.C. Secret Service and Law Enforcement did a fantastic job," Trump wrote on social media. "They acted quickly and bravely. The shooter has been apprehended, and I have recommended that we “LET THE SHOW GO ON” but, will entirely be guided by Law Enforcement." A freelance photographer at the event said four to six loud bangs had been heard in the hotel but not the immediate vicinity of the dinner. Attendees, including Trump and other Cabinet officials, took cover after the loud noises erupted, video from the scene showed, and he was taken away by Secret Service agents.
