Ted Turner, the founder of CNN and a media pioneer, died at 87 at his home in Tallahassee, Fla. Turner, known for his outspoken personality and competitive spirit, revolutionized television by launching the first 24-hour news network in 1980. Turner also created WTBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies, as well as Turner Sports, which partnered with the NBA for 36 years.
In 2005, Turner was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame.
