For months, we've been hearing about Donald Trump's plans to celebrate the United States of America's 250th birthday this summer in grandiose, self-glorifying fashion via a range of events under the banner of Freedom 250. Wednesday, we learned about a key piece of that programming: the Great American State Fair, a series of concerts on the National Mall. The performers list looked something like an I Love The '90s Tour lineup, dotted with figures like Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, C+C Music Factory, Young MC, and Poison's Bret Michaels. Within hours, artists started dropping off the Great American State Fair. Morris Day & The Time, from ICE-besieged Minneapolis, announced Wednesday afternoon that "contrary to rumor," they will not performing: "It's A No From Me," Day wrote, along with a sunglasses emoji. Young MC dropped off the lineup Wednesday night, writing that "The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event."
