EXCLUSIVE : Aimee Lou Wood ‘s romantic comedy series Film Club has reached the end of the line. Deadline understands that the BBC show will not be returning for a second season following its BAFTA-nominated first outing. The decision was mutual. Wood is said to be keen to prioritize other writing, while the BBC was relaxed about moving on from the series. Film Club was a personal project for Wood, co-written by her former drama school friend Ralph Davis. It starred Wood as Evie, who stages a film club, a weekly escape to create a world of wonder in her Mum’s garage, and spend a few uninterrupted hours with her best friend Noa (Nabhaan Rizwan). Evie’s eccentric family also featured, including fiercely loving single mum Suz (Suranne Jones), sister Izzie (Liv Hill), boyfriend Josh (Adam Long), and frustrating neighbor Callum (Owen Cooper).
