Published 10:00 am Friday, May 1, 2026 I don’t love the new library Just tore my “I love my library” sticker off my truck after seeing the huge AI/Google data center lookalike that our library system chose to erect. Then they close my perfectly beautiful downtown branch. Yes, I know it is going to reopen, but it’s a fairly new building that works well and needed nothing! What we really needed is small library branches in neighborhoods that we can walk or bike to so family and kids can discover the joys of reading. The push for five commissioners came from Democrats in Bend wanting to control all Deschutes County, like they control the city of Bend.
