Going to make a loop in Shenandoah National Park in the end of May. I've driven once on the Skyline Dr and completed my 70.3 Ironman in Roanoke, VA - this is everything I know about the trails there. So I found one original route - with ridges, it would make 46 miles and 13k elevation. But the ridges are one way go down and back up. So I edited it to cut two of the ridges and it went down to 32 mi but the elevation dropped to just 8k.
This is going to be a two day/overnight camp trip, no rush or run and with a lightweight backpack. What would you recommend and if the two ridges are worth it? And at what point would it be better to start given the better spot for overnight camping and split the hike? As it said to be friendly to start at any point.
