Central Oregon’s first big wildfire of 2026 is nearly contained.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the Pine Mountain Fire is 85% contained and has remained at roughly 2,589 acres in size.
On Monday, firefighters continued mop-up work, hauling equipment and identifying repair needs. The day prior, firefighters stopped the fire’s progress on the northern and southern edge of its perimeter. The remaining mop-up is isolated to steep, rocky terrain along the fire’s western edge.vFirefighters continue to patrol around the burned area.
Resources assigned to the Pine Mountain Fire include three hotshot crews, one dozer, five engines, four water tenders and twenty overhead personnel.
