MoreThan Films has boarded international sales on “ Summer Drift ” (“Virages”), the debut feature from Swiss co-directors Céline Carridroit and Aline Suter, ahead of its world premiere in the ACID sidebar at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. The Switzerland-France co-production is set during a Geneva summer and follows Johanna, a woman employed on the production floor of a luxury watch factory who, rather than parting with her aging VW Beetle, decides to restore it – forcing her back into the world of mechanics that had once turned her away. The film, which weaves through questions of labor and gender identity, operates as a hybrid between documentary and fiction. Cavale Films – the Geneva-based collective co-founded by the directors and producer Aurélien Marsais – produced the film alongside Cécile Lestrade. Carridroit and Suter also share screenplay credits.…
