I'm putting this under 'use of the language' because I'm really more interested in how Spanish is actually spoken in every day life, rather than what the official grammatical rules might be. I'm also going to try (ha) not to use SpanishDict in writing this, so feel free to correct any Spanish errors you see. So, the subjunctive is (roughly) the "hypothetical" mood or subjective. There are certain trigger words (para que, dudo que, ojalá, espero que, etc.), and lots of cases where the trigger word is implied ('que te vaya bien todo'). I am familiar with WEIRD (wish, emotion, impersonal, recommendation, doubt) since years ago, but I also know that in practice it's not quite that simple.
