Martin Lewis warns people could be owed thousands in ‘lost’ pensions – How to check yours

00:59

Martin Lewis has urged people to check to see if they could be owed thousands of pounds in “lost” pensions.

During a pension special of The Martin Lewis Money Show on Tuesday (5 May), the financial guru explained how to check if you could be owed money for free.

Mr Lewis said: “There’s over £30bn of pensions thought to be lost, an average of just under £10,000 each.”

He explained how pensions could have been lost when people didn’t inform employers of their new contact details, or if a person has changed jobs.

Mr Lewis urged people to dig out their paperwork and contact their former employer if they think they have a “lost” pension, or visit the pension tracing service on the gov.uk website.
