The third time was the charm for Cheyenne Mountain boys’ lacrosse. A year after falling to Air Academy in the second round of state playoffs, and again during the regular season, the No. 9 Red-Tailed Hawks got revenge in a 17-6 win over the No. 1 Kadets in the quarterfinals Tuesday night. Cheyenne Mountain advances to the semifinals for the first time since 2022, when it fell to Air Academy in the title game, and will face No. 5 Lutheran on Saturday. Air Academy (15-2), the 2025 4A runner-up that also won the 4A Southern league title, had just one loss before Tuesday’s heartbreaker at home. ‘This win means the world,” Cheyenne Mountain goalie Walt Cameron said. “People see lacrosse how it is and thought they were the No. 1 team.
