Walking by Studio 54 in midtown on a recent spring evening, one might be convinced it’s the 1970s again. The mirrored lobby of the fabled New York City nightclub-turned-theater is packed with glittering guests filing in beneath trembling chandeliers. The walls are plastered with kitschy posters exclaiming “DON’T GET HOT AND FLUSTERED” and “LET THEM THRILL YOU!” But this isn’t 1977.
