Bungie has announced that, after over eight years since the game's launch, it is ending active development for Destiny 2. In a blog post , the studio lays out when the final content update will arrive and how the game will be packaged going forward, while cryptically alluding to the future. In the post, Bungie writes, “While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2.” The studio plans to release the game’s final content update on June 9; after that, the game will remain playable, likely for a long time. On the same day, Destiny 2, along with its content packs, will be bundled into a single purchase called Destiny 2: The Collection.
