Beehiiv, an emerging email newsletter platform, became this month the most recent ecommerce-adjacent software company to announce an MCP integration for artificial intelligence. On its own, Beehiiv’s announcement might not seem significant. Yet the integration could point to a larger trend. Increasingly, merchants’ software tools have direct, even native, AI connections. Examples include Shopify, WooCommerce, Yottaa, and Shippo. What Is an MCP? Anthropic, the company behind the popular Claude LLM, defined the Model Context Protocol in 2024.
