Published 8:00 am Friday, May 29, 2026 For nearly 30 years, the Pacific Crest Endurance Sports Festival brought triathlon, duathlon, marathon and half-marathon events to Central Oregon. But this year the event is canceled and its return is uncertain. Pacific Crest was held in Sunriver from 1996 to 2019. The races were held virtually in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic, and then Pacific Crest merged with the Deschutes Dash Triathlon starting in 2022. The event was staged in Bend near Riverbend Park from 2022 to 2025. “W e don’t get a lot of support down there,” said Brock Schoene, owner of the Vancouver, Washington-based Why Racing Events that runs Pacific Crest. “We don’t have a lot of volunteers.
