A massive fireball lit up the Florida coast this week after Jeff Bezos ’ space company, Blue Origin, suffered a dramatic failure during a critical rocket test—raising big questions about what happens next in the billionaire space race. What Happened Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket exploded during a “hot-fire” test late May 28 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.  The New Glenn rocket itself is massive—about 320 feet tall—and designed to compete directly with Elon Musk’s SpaceX’s heavy-lift rockets.  The test—essentially a full rehearsal before launch—involved igniting the rocket’s engines while it’s locked to the pad.  But just as the engines were being fired up, something went badly wrong.
