‘Victim’ turns aggressor: Why Jharkhand High Court refused divorce to man who ‘tortured’ wife with false allegations

Jharkhand High Court news: The Jharkhand High Court rejected a man’s plea for divorce, holding that even though he had accused his wife of cruelty, it was in fact the husband who had “ tortured ” her by making “false allegations” and repeatedly dragging her into litigation. Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and Sanjay Prasad were hearing the appeal of the man whose plea for dissolution of marriage against his wife on the grounds of cruelty was dismissed by the family court in December 2024.  “It is evident that no cruelty has been meted out to the appellant-husband by the respondent-wife; rather, it is the appellant-husband who tortured the respondent-wife by making false allegations and filing one case and another,” the April 24 order read.  Justices Sujit Narayan Prasad and Sanjay Prasad noted that the husband failed to prove the allegation regarding the wife’s pregnancy and abortion.…
