I'm currently wearing a t-shirt with a GOG logo and a "Make games live forever" mission statement. That sentence might sound like marketing. It's not. It's the mission that gains importance each year. In 2025 I entered my 40th year of life on this planet and grew an even longer beard. That means I am now well on my way to becoming a historian or turning into Deckard Cain and greeting everyone with “Stay awhile and listen”. Obviously then, making games live forever fits very well with my own canon. So…. Stay awhile and listen GOG started in 2008 with video game preservation at its core. We’ve been doing this work from day one – making old games run on new systems, negotiating licenses, maintaining offline installers. Do you remember this logo? But 2024 and 2025 brought big changes. The work that was always happening in the background became more visible and talked about. We put official stamps on it. We built tools around it. We invited you to be part of it in new ways.
