Arapahoe Basin announced on Thursday that it will be closing the slopes on May 3, according to its website.
“We have closed as early as April 30 in the early 2000s,” said Shayna Silverman, the communications manager at Arapahoe Basin..
Despite the historically low snowpack this year, The Basin remained open for a total of 194 days on the snow, the longest season in Colorado, according to a social media post.
“We ski and ride as long as Mother Nature allows,” Silverman said, adding that the season is still worth celebrating.
From April 27 to closing day on May 3, Arapahoe Basin is selling $39 lift tickets, and will have live music shows from 12-3 p.m. every day of the closing weekend.
Other Colorado ski resorts have also faced shortened seasons, with mountains like El Dorado and Vail closing down in early April and Loveland closing this Sunday, according to their websites. Copper Mountain matches Arapahoe Basin, also closing on May 3.
