Kacey Musgraves has hand-selected a trio of mariachi musician brothers who were previously detained by ICE to open three of her Texas shows next month. Antonio, Caleb, and Joshua — the Gámez-Cuéllar brothers — will support Musgraves at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, Texas from May 3rd to May 5th. The family had entered the United States through an asylum claim in 2023, after fleeing from cartel members in Mexico and resettling in McAllen, Texas. The family was released in early March, after the family’s detention sparked widespread uproar on a local and national basis. Both Antonio and Caleb belong to Mariachi Oro, the award-winning mariachi band at their high school. In particular, Antonio is recognized as the top mariachi trumpet player in the state of Texas. Joshua, the youngest sibling, is also a mariachi musician.…
