Frizz is often treated as an inevitability for curly hair, but after years of battling the issue, I’ve learnt it’s usually a sign something in your routine isn’t quite working. In essence, frizz occurs when hair is damaged or not properly moisturised - a common affliction for curly and wavy hair. This can cause hair cuticles (the outer layer of strands) to lift up, so that more moisture can pass through, giving us that frazzled, fluffy look. In particular, our hair can fall victim to our environment, with humidity often the root cause. Here in the UK, the combination of a relatively humid climate with near-constant drizzle can result in year-round frizz, so it's safe to say I've trialled my fare share of anti-frizz products.
