Colombia is buying back $4.4 billion in outstanding bonds, closing out its third such transaction in the last year as it looks to lower borrowing costs weeks before a pivotal presidential election.

The South American nation agreed to purchase the entire amount investors tendered last week, according to a Monday press releaseBloomberg Terminal. The offer included nine series of notes due between 2035 and 2061. Citigroup managed the deal, with the settlement scheduled for Tuesday.
