One of the things I love about Home Assistant is one of the obvious uses. How I can make connected devices do stuff their native software doesn't allow, particularly across different manufacturers. I've recently had a solar and battery installation. I noticed that under heavy load the inverter would get hot, and I could hear coil whine when it did so. Home assistant can see the inverter details, including it's temperature. So I added a couple of usb PC fans, connected them to a smart socket, and set up a simple routine to cool the inverter at 50°C before coil whine could kick in. Works pretty well! Before and after for comparison. submitted by /u/malacoda13 [link] [comments]
