Longtime CBS News Producer Cites Claims of Aiming Reporting Towards “Particular Part of the Political Spectrum” in Exit Memo

By McKinley Franklin Mary Walsh, a veteran CBS News producer of over four decades, is exiting the company, claiming in an exit memo to staffers that instructions to “aim our reporting at a particular part of the political spectrum” are partly why she’s departing. “We’ve been reading a lot of goodbyes lately and here I am headed out the door. It’s too soon, even after 46 years,” Mary Walsh wrote in a memo sent Friday, per The Guardian. “But maybe it’s for the best. We’ve been told to aim our reporting at a particular part of the political spectrum.
